With little exposure in Bengali & Hindi plays, Sourav Sarkar entered field of histrionics. Right from his young age he was addicted to watching movies. Apart from regular commercial films, he used to attend film festivals. Although there was no formal training in acting, his killer instinct for films drove him to industry as an actor. He found working environment in film industry during mid 1990’s absolutely different from his experience in the corporate sector. However he came in touch with Mithun Chakraborty at Bangalore during shooting of movie Swamy Vivekananda. In this particular film, Mithunda was playing the role of Paramhansa Ramakrishna. Later on Mithun Chakraborty bagged national award for acting in this role. After office hours Sourav Sarkar was a frequent visitor at the film set where he shared his opinion with Dada. There Sourav expressed his keen interest for acting in films. Shortly Sourav was called for screen test and he was selected in a cameo role in Bengali film Bhagya Debata. It was his debut film. Story was inspired from a popular Tamil play. Most of shooting took place at Ooty. The film was released in 1995. Later on it was dubbed in Hindi as Krantikari and released in 1997. The film was directed by famous Tamil film choreographer Raghuram. Executive producer was B Loghanathan. Cinematographer was Devraj. The film had huge star cast. Mithun Chakraborty played the lead role with Rituparna Sengupta as the lead actress. Rajinikanth, Soumitra Chatterjee, Mamta Kulkarni, Puneet Issar, Soham appeared in special roles. Besides films he has also acted in few serials.

Sourav Sarkar’s passion for acting prevails till today and he desires to act again in meaningful roles.
